In today’s modern world filled with mass produced items, made with cnc routers, lasers and computers, Here at Good In Wood I still use good old fashioned hard work. Crafting by hand, bespoke wooden items and gifts ranging from practical storage solutions and general wooden boxes to decorative ornaments, all in my workshop. I am always on the lookout for new inspiration, ideas, and shapes to make truly unique items using locally sourced, renewable materials where possible.

All items are built to last, many to become heirlooms that can be handed down through generations. All items will come with a Good In Wood certificate of authentication and stock number.

As well as what’s available on my online shop, I also craft many commissioned items, if you have any ideas for an item you would like made or even a variation of something already available feel free to get in touch using one of the methods on the contact page.

Depending on size and weight, some items are sent in their very own custom fit wooden packaging. Higher priced items are sent with recorded delivery.

Materials

I try to source all wood locally,  from felled trees, dried and cured by myself, to a local timber supplier who will source me the more exotic woods I like to use, I prefer woods with character and nice grain. My personal preferred woods are English oaks, maple, birch, walnut and African sapele.

Finishes

All items I make are finished according to there style or use, the main finishes I use are Danish oils, Linseed oils and Tung oils. Some items are then sealed with polymer varnishes and natural waxes.
